CS GAS is a specialist supplier of well optimisation, production process control (SCADA) systems, and gas field services. Our organisation has a multidisciplinary engineering focus with operations that include fabrication, electrical, instrumentation, industrial control systems, field services, and maintenance activities across multiple operational locations.

We are seeking an experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Officer to join our People & Safety team.

This is a hands-on operational role for an experienced WHS professional who takes ownership of workplace safety and drives compliance outcomes across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enforcing WHS standards, conducting audits and inspections, supporting project teams with safety documentation, and ensuring corrective actions are followed through to completion.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and operational teams to identify risks, improve safety performance, and foster a culture of accountability. This role requires a proactive individual who is confident enforcing safety standards, addressing non-compliance and influencing positive safety behaviours.

The position involves regular travel between Company locations and operational sites and requires a strong on-site presence to support compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

About the role

This role requires a proactive individual who is confident enforcing safety standards, addressing non-compliance and influencing positive safety behaviours. The position involves regular travel between Company locations and operational sites and requires a solid on-site presence to support compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

Take ownership of WHS compliance and continuous improvement activities across the business

Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and compliance reviews across all Company locations

Monitor and enforce compliance with Company policies, procedures, and legislative requirements

Investigate incidents, hazards, near misses and safety breaches

Ensure corrective actions are implemented, monitored, and closed out within agreed timeframes

Track, report, and follow up outstanding corrective actions with managers and operational teams

Prepare audit reports, investigation reports, and compliance documentation

Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to develop, review, and maintain project-specific safety documentation, including SWMS, risk assessments, permits and site safety requirements

Support project mobilisation and client compliance requirements

Monitor contractor compliance with Company safety requirements

About you

Minimum four (4) years' experience in a WHS, HSE, Safety Officer or similar role

Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification

Demonstrated experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments

Experience investigating incidents and implementing corrective and preventative actions

Experience developing, reviewing, and maintaining WHS documentation, procedures, SWMS, and compliance records

Experience supporting project teams with safety documentation and compliance requirements

Sound knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and regulations

Current unrestricted Driver's Licence

Strong report writing, administration, and computer skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
