RN - Mackay Base Hospital - Coronary Care Unit

Mackay Base Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its Coronary Care Unit on a six-week contract from late August through early October 2026. This is a rotating shift role offering up to 80 hours per fortnight across 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts, with a salary range of AUD$55.65 to AUD$70.82 per hour. The successful candidate will deliver high-level cardiac nursing care in a busy, specialised workplace where clinical expertise and composure directly impact patient outcomes.

- Specialised coronary care nursing in a high-acuity ward setting
- AUD$55.65 to AUD$70.82 per hour, rotating shifts up to 80 hours per fortnight

Preferred Requirements

- Mandatory coronary care unit experience and current Advanced Life Support (ALS)



certification
- Demonstrated competence in cardiac monitoring and ECG interpretation
- Practical experience managing patients with acute coronary syndromes (STEMI, NSTEMI) and heart failure
- Familiarity with haemodynamic monitoring, inotropes, central and arterial lines, and temporary pacing wires
- Knowledge of non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP) and experience with cardiac catheterisation patients

Preferred Qualifications

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia
- Prior experience working within Queensland Health or Mackay Hospital and Health Service
- Familiarity with ieMR (integrated electronic Medical Record) systems
