Are you an experienced social worker passionate about supporting victim-survivors of sexual violence and improving access to justice through trauma-informed, survivor-centred practice?

Caxton Legal Centre is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join the new Sexual Violence Advocacy and Legal Service (SVALS), a specialist statewide service delivering integrated legal and social support to victim-survivors of sexual assault across Queensland. SVALS will be delivered along with three partner organisations. The service combines legal assistance, justice system navigation and multidisciplinary support to help victim-survivors access information, understand their options and navigate complex systems in ways that prioritise safety, choice and dignity.

What makes this role unique?

This is a rare opportunity to help establish and shape a new specialist statewide service from the ground up.

As the inaugural Senior Social Workers in SVALS, you will work alongside specialist lawyers in a genuinely multidisciplinary practice model. Together, you will support victim-survivors before, during and after engagement with the justice system, providing practical and emotional support, advocacy, justice system navigation, service coordination and safety-focused interventions.

You will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of trauma recovery, rights-based practice and access to justice. You will support victim-survivors engaging with police, courts, restorative justice pathways and other systems.

You will also contribute to stakeholder partnerships, workforce capability building, community education, secondary consultation and the development of Queensland's response to sexual violence.
