Job Description - Business System Analyst (0000BCV8)

Business System Analyst - 0000BCV8

- Temporary Full-Time up to 12 months from start date - possibility of extension

About us

The NSW Police Force (NSWPF) is one of the largest police forces in the western world, with more than 20,000 employees, including more than 4,000 administrative employees who support the sworn officers that provide a range of law and order services 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the socially, geographically and culturally diverse community of NSW.

About the role

We have an opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst to be part of our PMO, Technology & Communications Services Command. The Business Systems Analyst interfaces with business areas to identify and communicate business needs and intentions to facilitate the development, configuration, delivery and use of ICT solutions supporting business efficiency, productivity, regulatory compliance and strategy.

This role is best positioned as a Business Systems Analyst within the PMO Standards and Frameworks team. Its primary purpose is to work across the portfolio to uplift project management capability, improve consistency, and enable continuous improvement in how projects are initiated, governed, and delivered.

The role aligns to enterprise BA models where analysts operate as capability enablers, partnering with project teams, sponsors, and PMO stakeholders to define standardised processes, artefacts, and system usage patterns, rather than owning individual project solutions. The focus is on frameworks, standards, and ways of working, supported by fit-for-purpose tools.

Day-to-day, the BSA works within PMO Standards & Frameworks and collaborate with stakeholders to:

- translate business needs into clear standards, templates, and guidance
- support consistent use of PPM and governance systems
- identify systemic pain points and drive portfolio-level improvements

- support change adoption through documentation, guidance, and stakeholder engagement.

What makes this role unique is the strategic lens it applies, balancing operational support with longer-term improvement of PMO maturity, assurance, and delivery capability.

It suits candidates who enjoy influencing at scale, working across multiple stakeholders, and improving how organisations deliver projects, rather than focusing on a single solution or system.
