Position Summary

The Retail Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the BP Sebastopol service station and convenience store. The role involves overseeing retail operations, supervising staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with BP operational standards and relevant legislation, and driving sales while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Plan, organise, direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the retail service station and convenience store.
- Ensure the store consistently delivers a high standard of customer service and maintains BP brand standards.
- Recruit, train, supervise and mentor retail staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels across all shifts.
- Prepare employee rosters, monitor attendance, approve leave, and manage staff performance.
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to improve revenue, profitability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Control stock levels by ordering fuel, food, beverages, grocery items and other merchandise, ensuring adequate inventory at all times.
- Liaise with suppliers and distributors regarding product ordering, deliveries and stock replenishment.
- Conduct regular stocktakes, investigate stock discrepancies,



minimise wastage and implement effective inventory control procedures.
- Ensure accurate pricing of products and maintain promotional displays in accordance with company requirements.
- Monitor daily cash handling procedures, banking, reconciliation of sales, and point-of-sale transactions.
- Prepare operational reports, analyse sales trends and provide recommendations to improve business performance.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, food safety regulations, environmental requirements, and fuel handling procedures.
- Ensure compliance with liquor, tobacco and age-restricted sales legislation where applicable.
- Resolve customer enquiries, complaints and service issues promptly and professionally.
- Maintain store presentation, cleanliness and merchandising standards.
- Implement loss prevention measures and maintain store security procedures.
- Coordinate maintenance requirements for the premises and equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work obligations, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the business owners to achieve sales, operational and financial objectives.

Essential Skills and Requirements

- Relevant qualification in Business, Retail Management or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
- At least one year of relevant retail management experience
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Experience in inventory management, merchandising and retail operations.
- Sound financial management skills including budgeting, cash handling and sales reporting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment and manage competing priorities.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety and retail compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office applications.
