This Opportunity

As Client Engagement Lead, you’ll play a key role in strengthening SHEPHERD’s relationships with priority clients and turning trusted connections, market insights and our strong delivery reputation into meaningful opportunities and secured work.

You’ll be the consistent link between our clients and our technical teams; building genuine relationships across rural, regional and remote markets, identifying opportunities, maintaining a healthy pipeline and ensuring the right conversations happen at the right time.

This is a role for someone who will bring structure and momentum to our client engagement approach and providing the disciplined follow up.

Working alongside our delivery and leadership teams, you’ll help us stay close to our clients, understand their challenges and connect them with practical solutions that deliver real value.

What you’ll bring

- Demonstrated relationship-development capability in long-cycle B2B, professional services, government, infrastructure, civil, regional markets, technology-enabled services or a related field
- Genuine comfort building relationships in rural, regional and remote environments




- Strong follow-through discipline: able to maintain contact cadence over 12-24 month cycles
- Strong discovery instincts: asks, listens.You’re genuinely curious and value understanding before pitching
- Ability to qualify opportunities and recommend walking away from poor-fit work
- Confidence working across organizational relationships executive, technical, operational and procurement stakeholders
- Ability to work with CRM, pipeline stages, next actions and forecast inputs
- Ability to coordinate internal experts without pretending to be the technical expert
- Willingness and capacity to travel regularly to priority regions
- Authentic, practical and values-aligned communication style
- The following skills would be valuable so if you have experience in this space please highlight:
- Local government or public-sector infrastructure experience
- Roads, asset management, DRFA or disaster recovery exposure
- Experience with Local Buy, VendorPanel, LGP, TenderLink or similar procurement pathways

- Willing to learn the domain rather than overstate expertise

Our process and what you can expect from us:
