About the Role

This is a part time fixed term maternity leave replacement position for 0.8FTE, 60.8 hours a fortnight from 30th November 2026 until 28th November 2027 with the Eating Disorders program at the Department of Adolescent Medicine.

You will be responsible for providing excellent evidence- based clinical care to adolescents with restrictive eating disorders – anorexia nervosa, atypical anorexia and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder while providing Psychological and family assessments and interventions within the outpatient and inpatient Eating Disorder Clinic. You are required to maintain clinical documentation and record client contacts and outcomes measure to support the team activity levels while working collaboratively with other clinical disciplines within the team and external services to provide high quality inter-disciplinary care.

Classification for this position will range from PK1 – PL4 ($94,478.80 - $123,905.60 per annum pro rata) depending on years of training.

What you’ll achieve:

Grade 2:

- Purposefully and expertly engage patients and their families in mental health care, as per the Eating Disorders Service model
- Work collaboratively with other clinical disciplines within the team and external services to provide high quality inter-disciplinary care.
- Complete mandatory client contacts, outcome measures and report activity levels (statistics) to support team/s meeting KPI obligations.
- Maintain clinical documentation, records and data and participate in teaching opportunities internally and externally.
- Support junior clinical staff and psychology interns alongside their primary supervisor in their patient management and clinical reasoning with complex patients.

Grade 3:

- Purposefully and expertly engage patients and their families in mental health care, as per the Eating Disorders Service model
- Work collaboratively with other clinical disciplines within the team and external services to provide high quality inter-disciplinary care.
- Manage a complex and varied clinical caseload providing high level of clinical expertise with independent decision making
- Complete mandatory client contacts, outcome measures and report activity levels (statistics) to support team/s meeting KPI obligations.
- Provide high quality clinical supervision and/or consultation to staff and students, and provide regular, constructive and developmental feedback to team.
- Develop effective time management skills to balance clinical requirements and to contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Provide professional and operational/administrative support to the Service Lead as required.

Your skills and experience:

Grade 2 applicants





- Completion of accredited Master or Doctoral program in clinical or health psychology recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia. (Note Master of Qualified Psychology qualification does not meet this criterion).
- Hold general registration with AHPRA and the Psychology Board of Australia as a Psychologist
- Continuously satisfy the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) continuing professional development standards
- Uphold the PsyBA Code of Ethics
- Be Endorsed, or working towards endorsement with the PBA in a relevant field of practice (Clinical, Health)
- Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in child and/or adolescent mental health.
- Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary care team environment and liaising with external providers in the delivery of treatment.
- Post graduate qualification in a relevant child and adolescent mental health field -Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in evidence based treatment for adolescent restrictive eating disorders e.g. FBT, AFT, CBT etc. - Desirable

Grade 3 applicants

- Completion of accredited Master or Doctoral program in clinical or health psychology recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia. (Note Master of Professional Psychology qualification does not meet this criterion).
- Hold general registration with AHPRA and the Psychology Board of Australia as a Psychologist
- Have at least 5 years of experience post-general registration as a Psychologist
- Hold an endorsement with the PBA in any of the following fields of practice: Clinical, Health
- Hold Board-approved supervisor status, including Board-approval as a ‘Registrar Program Principal Supervisor’
- Continuously satisfy the PBA continuing professional development standards
- Demonstrated clinical skills and experience in restrictive eating disorders and disorders and child or adolescent mental health, including in the provision of Family Based Treatment.
- Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary care team environment and liaising with external providers in the delivery of treatment.
- Demonstrated commitment to work and contribute as part of a team.

About the Department

The Department of Adolescent Medicine, Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, is a multidisciplinary specialty department providing inpatient and outpatient care to adolescents experiencing both physical and mental health concerns. Sub-speciality teams within the Department of Adolescent Medicine include the Eating Disorders Service, specialising in treating adolescents with anorexia nervosa and other restrictive eating disorders,



the Gender Service who assist children and adolescents experiencing gender dysphoria, The Transition of Care service providing care in transition from paediatric to adult health providers, the Young People’s Health Service who provide primary health care for marginalised and at risk youth and the Chronic Illness Peer support (ChIPS) team who facilitate peer support, leadership and participation amongadolescent and young adults aged 12-25 living with a chronic illness. Inpatient Adolescent Medicine includes the care of adolescents requiring admission to the RCH for medical conditions with psychosocial complexity, somatisation disorders and medically unstable patients with restrictive type eating disorders.
