Description of the position:

Kairos Community College is a fee-free, inclusive school dedicated to providing young people with a fresh opportunity to complete their education in a safe and supportive environment. We specialise in re-engaging students for whom mainstream education hasn't worked, offering a versatile and creative learning model. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Secondary Teacher to join our team in Deception Bay, Brisbane QLD. The successful applicant must be flexible and able to teach across all subjects we offer, including Short Course Numeracy, Short Course Literacy, Science in Practice, Business Studies, Essential English and Mathematics, Social and Community Studies, Ethics and Religion, Sport and Recreation, Tourism, and Arts in Practice. Key Responsibilities:

- Presenting prescribed curriculum using a range of teaching techniques and materials.
- Developing students' interests, abilities and coordination by way of creative activities.
- Guiding discussions and supervising work in class.
- Preparing, administering and marking tests, projects and assignments to evaluate students' progress and recording the results.




- Discussing individual progress and problems with students and parents, and seeking advice from Student Counsellors and senior teachers.
- Maintaining discipline in classrooms and other school areas.
- Participating in staff meetings, educational conferences and workshops.
- Liaising with parent, community and business groups.
- Maintaining class and scholastic records.
- Performing extra-curricular tasks such as assisting with sport, school concerts, excursions and special interest programs.
- Supervising student teachers on placement.

Requirements:

- Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Education (Secondary), or related field.
- Current teacher registration in Australia (Queensland College of Teachers).
- Willingness and ability to teach flexibly across all subjects offered by the College.
- Relevant experience in a secondary teaching role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to student wellbeing, re-engagement and success, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- A current Light Rigid (LR) driver's licence is desirable.
- Current TAE (Training and Assessment) qualifications are desirable.
