Join a large Queensland-based organisation committed to delivering essential services across the state. This contract opportunity runs from September 2026 through to March 2027, with potential extension options available, and sits within a high-performing Commercial Insights and Advisory team. Based in Brisbane CBD, you will play a key role in improving business-critical cost modelling and reporting processes while partnering with stakeholders across business, finance, regulatory and technology functions.
Your new roleAs a Data Analytics Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing, simplifying and optimising existing cost modelling and reporting processes. You will analyse current-state data models, workflows and reporting mechanisms, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency and data quality. Key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with business, finance, regulatory, technology and data stakeholders to understand requirements and pain points
- Assessing existing data models, calculation logic, controls and reporting processes
- Profiling, cleansing and integrating data from multiple sources
- Redesigning and simplifying cost models and analytical workflows
- Automating data ingestion, transformation, quality assurance and reporting activities
- Implementing validation, reconciliation and governance controls
- Monitoring data quality and solution performance while identifying continuous improvement opportunities
- Providing insights and recommendations that balance operational, commercial, risk and regulatory considerations
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role,
you will bring a combination of strong technical analytics capability and stakeholder engagement experience.
You will demonstrate:
- Experience delivering advanced analytics, data modelling, data engineering or decision-support solutions within complex environments
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills
- Experience working with modern analytics and cloud platforms such as Azure, SQL Server and Power BI
- Knowledge of data integration, transformation, data quality and automation practices
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including model validation and optimisation
- The ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions
- Excellent communication skills and experience engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A tertiary qualification in Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Econometrics or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
