Our client, Glencore Mount Isa Mines, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent - Copper Smelter to join their Queensland Metals Operation. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced maintenance leader to provide strategic leadership across one of Australia's most significant copper smelting facilities. Reporting to the Metallurgical Maintenance Manager, you will provide leadership and direction to the Mechanical Maintenance team, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable execution of maintenance activities across the Copper Smelter. You will be responsible for driving maintenance performance, leading supervisors and trades teams, overseeing shutdowns, managing maintenance strategies and budgets, and delivering continuous improvement initiatives that maximise plant reliability and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and direction to Mechanical Supervisors, planners and maintenance teams.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies that improve equipment reliability and plant availability.
- Lead major shutdowns, maintenance planning and execution activities.
- Manage maintenance budgets, resources and contractor performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, reliability and maintenance performance.
- Coach and mentor frontline leaders while developing team capability.
- Build strong relationships with operations, engineering and technical stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, safety and environmental requirements.
- Assist the maintenance planning reliability teams to develop maintenance strategies.
- Identify parts for critical equipment and adjust inventory holdings as required.

Experience required:

- Mechanical Trade Qualification (Fitter or Boilermaker), with additional leadership or engineering qualifications highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in a Maintenance Superintendent or senior maintenance leadership role.
- Extensive experience within mining, mineral processing, smelting or other heavy industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, shutdown management, reliability and asset management principles.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
- Strong financial, budgeting and contractor management skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
- Experience using SAP or other CMMS maintenance systems.
- Experience managing maintenance within a copper smelting or metallurgical processing environment.
