About the Role

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to support and maintain enterprise ICT infrastructure environments across a complex and evolving technology landscape. This role will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing infrastructure systems to ensure reliability, security, performance, and compliance with operational and business requirements. You will play a key role in system administration, network management, backup and disaster recovery, incident resolution, and infrastructure improvement initiatives while providing expert technical advice across ICT services. The successful candidate will have strong experience working across Windows Server, VMware, networking technologies, backup solutions, and enterprise infrastructure environments.

Location: Sydney and Canberra

Contract: Initial 6 Months + 3 x 6 Month Extensions

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Security Clearance: Baseline OR Must be able to obtain Baseline Security Clearance

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

Install, configure, maintain,



and support physical and virtual server environments.

- Administer and optimise enterprise Windows Server and VMware infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance and proactively implement performance optimisation initiatives.
- Manage server resources including storage, CPU, memory, and capacity planning.
- Conduct regular server patching, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, standards, configurations, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, operational requirements, and security best practices.
- Configure and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Monitor network performance, analyse traffic patterns, and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Implement and maintain network security controls including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and access management.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup and recovery solutions.
- Perform backup validation, restoration testing, and disaster recovery exercises.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and supporting documentation.
- Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure compliance with backup policies and standards.




- Coordinate incident, problem, and change management activities in accordance with ITIL principles.
- Support ICT infrastructure enhancement projects and technology uplift initiatives.
- Provide technical advice and resolution for complex infrastructure issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across ICT infrastructure services.

Desired Experience and Capabilities

Minimum five years' experience in System Administration within enterprise ICT environments.

- Strong experience administering Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience managing physical and virtual server infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of VMware and virtualisation technologies.
- Solid understanding of network architecture, protocols, configurations, and security principles.
- Experience managing enterprise Active Directory environments, including Forests, Domains, Trusts, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
- Experience with enterprise backup and recovery solutions including Commvault, Veeam, SkyKick, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting disaster recovery planning, testing, and implementation.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimisation skills.
- Experience with Microsoft SCCM, Intune, Autopilot, and endpoint management solutions.
- Working knowledge of ITIL service management principles and best practices.
- Solid stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- Ability to contribute to infrastructure projects and technology improvement initiatives.
