Position Description – Garage Door & Gate Technician
Position Summary
The Garage Door & Gate Technician is responsible for the installation, servicing, maintenance, repair and fault diagnosis of residential and commercial garage door, shutter and gate systems.
The role requires a skilled and experienced technician who can work independently in the field while delivering high-quality workmanship and professional customer service. The technician will also work closely with the broader Alpha Garage Doors team to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Install new residential and commercial garage door and gate systems
- Service, repair and maintain existing garage doors, shutters and gates
- Diagnose faults and identify appropriate repair solutions
- Replace and upgrade existing garage door systems
- Work across a variety of systems, including:
- Roller doors
- Sectional/panel doors
- Tilt doors
- Counterweight tilt doors
- Commercial shutters
- Gate systems
- Assess challenging structures and develop practical installation or repair solutions
- Complete work safely, efficiently and to Alpha Garage Doors' quality standards
- Provide professional and courteous customer service while on site
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding work being undertaken
- Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles appropriately
- Work independently while communicating effectively with the wider team
- Participate in occasional emergency work where required and available
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in garage door installation, servicing and repairs
- Experience with residential and commercial garage door systems
- Strong technical, fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Current Victorian driver's licence
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform hands-on trade work
- Professional presentation and attitude
- Reliable work ethic and ability to work independently
- Full Australian working rights
Highly Regarded:
- Experience with gate systems
- Electrical knowledge or experience
- Welding knowledge or experience
- Forklift licence
