The Shipping team plays a critical role in ensuring product moves efficiently from our international suppliers through to Amart Distribution Centres.
As Shipping Manager on a 12 month fixed-term contract , you'll lead our Shipping Coordinators and oversee the end-to-end movement of containers into Amart. From international logistics and shipping compliance through to freight negotiations, supplier and provider management, budgeting and process optimisation, you'll play a key role in keeping our supply chain moving.
This is a diverse and hands-on leadership opportunity, ideal for an experienced shipping or logistics professional who enjoys solving problems, influencing outcomes and making a tangible impact across the supply chain.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Oversee the efficient movement of international shipments and the flow of products through to Amart Distribution Centres
- Resolve shipping challenges by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Use shipping and logistics systems to track, check, prioritise and route orders
- Manage key shipping documentation, including Advance Shipping Notices, Bills of Lading and other relevant documentation
- Supervise, lead and support the Shipping Coordinator team
- Manage the Shipping department budget and maintain strong budgetary control
- Collaborate with other departments and colleagues to optimise processes and improve supply chain efficiency
- Ensure compliance with legal regulations, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and company policies
- Manage compliance with Illegal Logging Regulations across Amart and our suppliers
- Lead rate and tender negotiations across freight rates, cartage rates and shipping contracts
- Manage relationships with Freight Forwarders and DC Wharf Cartage providers
- Maintain Amart's Australian Trusted Trader Accreditation
- Provide Senior Leaders with market insights, shipping updates, challenges and industry feedback
About you:
- 5+ years' experience in Import, Shipping, Logistics or Supply Chain operations management
- Extensive knowledge and experience across international logistics
- Strong leadership capability, with the ability to support and develop a team
- Highly effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes
- Strong commercial acumen, particularly across freight, contracts and budgeting
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a rapid-paced environment
- A safety-first mindset and commitment to compliance
