Role type: Full-time; Fixed-term (24 months) Faculty: Engineering and Information Technology School: Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering Salary: Level A: AUD $87,266 - $118,416 p.a. plus 17% super

About the Role

Experimental solar cell fabrication and characterisation / contribute to fast evolving photovoltaic sub-topics / collaborate globally within FEIT.

What you will deliver

- Plan and execute experimental research on silicon solar cells and spectral down-conversion and downshifting concepts.
- Design, fabricate and characterise photovoltaic devices using industrially relevant processes and advanced measurement techniques.
- Develop and use modelling tools and data analysis to interpret device performance and guide optimisation strategies.
- Prepare high-quality manuscripts, reports and funding proposals, and present outcomes at leading national and international forums.
- Supervise graduate researchers, contribute to departmental seminars, and support laboratory operations and outreach activities.

Ideal Candidate

- Hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrate hands‑on expertise in fabrication and characterisation of photovoltaic or related optoelectronic devices.
- Use device modelling and quantitative data analysis to complement experimental work on solar cells.
- Have a robust track record of high-quality, prominently authored publications in respected journals or conferences.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly through scientific writing, seminars and presentations.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary research teams and contribute to supervision of graduate students or assistants.
