Reporting to the Team Leader, Strategic Communications, you'll prepare clear, accurate, culturally safe and audience specific communications for staff, media, government, sector partners, funders and community stakeholders.
This is a hands on role for an experienced communications professional who can manage competing priorities, bring cultural awareness and sound judgement to every piece of content they produce — from executive briefings to social media posts.
What You'll Do
- Support the development, coordination and delivery of communications plans that advance Djirra's strategic priorities, advocacy, fundraising, partnerships, events and stakeholder engagement
- Write high quality content across platforms and audiences, including stakeholder updates, executive messages, briefings, web and EDM content, social media, presentations, talking points and campaign materials
- Provide expert support for external stakeholder communications with government, funders, sector partners and community stakeholders
- Assist with proactive and reactive media engagement, managing reputational risk and consistent messaging

- Plan, draft, schedule, monitor, moderate and report on social media content and campaigns
- Manage Djirra's website and EDM platforms (WordPress and Mailchimp), producing and publishing content directly
- Deliver cross channel campaigns across website, EDM, social media, print and internal channels
- Maintain a forward communications calendar and monitor emerging issues and deadlines
- Assess and report on communications impact using analytics, engagement data and stakeholder feedback
- Coordinate production and distribution of materials with external suppliers, in collaboration with the Community Engagement team
- Champion Djirra's brand integrity and consistent messaging across the organisation
Who You Are

- You communicate sensitively, respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal community members, staff, leaders, government and sector partners
- You bring substantial experience developing and delivering high quality communications in complex organisational, policy, advocacy or community services settings
- You have high level writing, editing and quality assurance skills, with the ability to produce accurate, accessible materials fit for senior review and external audiences
- You can turn complex information into clear messages, narratives and briefing content for diverse audiences
- You have experience managing multi-channel communications — digital, website, EDM, social media, print and internal — often without dedicated team support
- You're a solid project manager, able to juggle competing priorities and deliver accurate work to tight timeframes
- You're confident advising managers and staff on audience, tone, timing, approvals, risk and channel selection
- You're skilled across publishing, design, word processing and presentation tools, with experience in WordPress,
