Chandler Macleod is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join Rio Tinto's Project Delivery Team at Weipa, Queensland.
Reporting to the Manager, Project Delivery, this role will lead the delivery of electrical work packages across a diverse portfolio of capital projects supporting Rio Tinto's Weipa and Amrun operations. Working closely with contractors, construction teams and stakeholders, you will oversee project execution from planning and procurement through to construction, commissioning and project close-out.
Where You'll Be Working
Rio Tinto's Weipa operations are among the world's largest bauxite mining operations, supporting significant mining, port, processing and infrastructure assets across Cape York.
As part of the Project Delivery Team, you will contribute to a range of projects scheduled for delivery in 2026, including:
- Lighting and power supply installations for the Amrun Haul Road
- Radio tower installation projects
- Accommodation module installations
- Minor infrastructure projects
- Tailings dam decant pump decommissioning and commissioning works
Key Responsibilities
- Lead contractors and construction leads delivering electrical scopes of work
- Manage electrical construction, testing and commissioning activities
- Coordinate procurement, scheduling and project delivery activities
- Lead contractor engagement and contract management processes
- Monitor project costs, forecasting, KPIs and reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety and technical standards
About You
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience delivering electrical and/or multidisciplinary projects
- Solid understanding of LV and HV electrical systems and technical documentation
- Experience managing contractors, procurement and project delivery activities
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
