Industrial Fittings Sales is an Australian owned and operated national leader in the design and manufacture of fittings and allied components for all sectors of industry. We are seeking a suitably qualified person to join the D team based in our Manufacturing team in the Rocklea Office in Brisbane.

We are seeking a practical, commercially minded Manufacturing Project Engineer to lead major facility, equipment and manufacturing improvement projects within an established Australian industrial manufacturing group.

This is a hands-on implementation role. The successful candidate will manage facility improvements, machinery upgrades and the establishment of a new hose-assembly division in Australia.

Key responsibilities

Facility and equipment improvements

Review current facilities, machinery, production constraints and future capacity requirements.

Develop improvement plans covering scope, costs, milestones, resources and completion dates.

Prepare technical specifications and business cases for new or upgraded equipment.

Obtain and technically assess supplier quotations.

Coordinate equipment procurement, delivery, installation and commissioning.

Manage site preparation, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and safety requirements.

Coordinate factory and site acceptance testing.

Establish equipment acceptance and performance criteria.

Ensure projects are completed within approved budgets and timeframes.

Maintain complete project records, including quotations, purchase orders, drawings, invoices, variations and commissioning documents.

Provide regular progress, expenditure, risk and milestone reports to management.

Machinery upgrades

Assess existing machinery performance, reliability, safety and productive capacity.

Identify opportunities for automation, improved workflow and reduced downtime.





Develop upgrade scopes and technical specifications.

Coordinate equipment modifications, relocation and installation.

Ensure appropriate guarding and machinery-safety controls are implemented.

Develop commissioning and production-validation plans.

Establish preventive-maintenance schedules and critical spare-parts requirements.

Coordinate operator and maintenance training.

Confirm that completed upgrades meet safety, quality, capacity and performance requirements.

Systems and documentation

Create complete process maps and manufacturing workflows.

Develop and implement SOPs, work instructions, forms and checklists.

Establish document-control and engineering change-control processes.

Develop the recent division's organisational and reporting structure.

Define responsibilities, accountabilities and approval authorities.

Establish production, quality, safety, maintenance and project-reporting systems.

Develop KPIs covering:

Production output-Labour efficiency-Equipment utilisation-Machinery downtime-Setup and changeover time-Waste and rework-Product quality-On-time delivery-Maintenance compliance

Safety performance

Produce weekly management reports outlining progress, costs, risks, delays and upcoming actions.

Design, quality and compliance

Review engineering drawings, equipment layouts and technical specifications.

Conduct machinery, facility and process risk assessments.

Ensure compliance with applicable Australian Standards and WHS requirements.

Establish machinery guarding and safe operating requirements.

Develop inspection and test plans.

Maintain design records, technical files and compliance evidence.

Ensure products are manufactured and tested against approved specifications.

Manage design changes, process changes and equipment modifications through controlled approval processes.
