Our client is an established Australian manufacturing business specialising in laser cutting, folding and sheet metal manufacturing.
With a solid reputation for quality, consistency and service delivery, the business supports customers across a range of industries and continues to invest in modern manufacturing technology and automation.
Due to continued growth, they are expanding their Drafting and Estimating team and are looking for an experienced Estimator to join the business.
About the Role
Working closely with customers, drafting and production teams, you will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings and designs and developing practical, cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
The role will involve estimating and quoting bespoke manufactured components, reviewing drawings and specifications, and ensuring customer requirements can be effectively translated into production.
You will also play an important role in maintaining strong customer relationships and providing responsive technical support throughout the quoting process.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings, designs and customer specifications
- Prepare accurate estimates and quotations for manufactured components
- Review jobs for manufacturability and determine appropriate production processes
- Work closely with production and engineering teams
- Respond to urgent and time-critical customer requirements
- Identify and propose solutions to customer engineering challenges
- Maintain accurate documentation and quotation information
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Manage multiple quotations and priorities effectively
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within sheet metal, laser cutting, fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to interpret technical and engineering drawings
- Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor in the development of sheet metal solutions
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong computer literacy and confidence working across multiple systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and urgent customer requirements
Highly Regarded
- Experience within sheet metal cutting, folding and rolling
- Knowledge of Australian sheet metal and raw materials
- AutoCAD 2D experience
- Inventor 3D experienceAbility to develop flat patterns
- Experience creating technical drawings for manufacture
- Understanding of laser cutting and bending processes
