About The Role
Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you'll lead a contemporary workplace relations strategy that empowers our people, strengthens organisational performance, and enables the achievement of our strategic priorities. Work type: Permanent, full time.
Classification: $177,546 pa plus Super
Key responsibilities
- Develop a clear, inspiring vision for the team's future, formulate goals to achieve it, and communicate it effectively to lead the department.
- Ensure that People Partners equip and enable leaders, across all levels, with the tools to effectively manage their people and help them perform and achieve their best. People & Organisational Leadership.
- Design and Drive the implementation of the City’s Workplace Relations Plan as a subset of the City’s People & Culture Strategy.
- Lead the People and Employee Relations team to deliver on the Workplace Relations Plan.
- Manage all aspects of the department’s resources and budget planning for effective operations; regularly tracking and reporting on performance against departmental goals.
- Lead the provision of expert advice to the P&C; Division and the Executive team regarding the prevention and resolution of significant industrial disputes, grievances and union consultation to ensure an effective environment and culture is achieved including compliance with relevant legislations, industrial instruments and government policy.
- Establish robust governance mechanisms to ensure appropriate record keeping,
budget monitoring and reporting.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Commerce, Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a similar field and / or significant human resources leadership experience in a comparable organisation.
Essential Experience
- Demonstrated experience in managing senior stakeholders i.e. executive leadership team and senior leaders, liaison with government agencies and Unions,
- Commercial and ideally local government business experience and ability to demonstrate bottom line value add through innovative workplace relations transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge and proven contemporary experience in developing Workplace Relations strategies in a complex and industrially active workplace.
- Demonstrated people management and leadership skills to support, influence and foster a productive team culture.
- Accomplished negotiation, writing and public speaking skills to influence stakeholders and achieve support for organisation outcomes.
- Highly developed presentation skills, including experience with using cutting edge technology/applications to present information and persuade.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
