About the role

This position is available in Geelong or Ballarat.

Regional Victoria is experiencing strong growth through new housing, major infrastructure investment and Renewable Energy Zones. The Barwon South West and Grampians region is key to supporting this growth, with DTP helping to ensure transport networks enable housing delivery, economic development and the transition to renewable energy.

The Senior Transport Planner leads integrated land use and transport planning across the region, while managing a team of Transport Planners and contributing to the Transport Strategy leadership team. The role oversees complex projects, develops regional transport strategies, coordinates stakeholder engagement and represents DTP in planning forums to support connected, sustainable and inclusive regional communities.

- Thinks strategically, balancing long-term vision with practical action, and translating strategic priorities into meaningful outcomes.
- Stays informed on emerging trends, conducts research, and uses insights, data and skilled networks to support decision-making.
- Communicates complex information clearly and effectively through high-quality briefs, reports, presentations and stakeholder communications.
- Builds strong stakeholder relationships, influences outcomes, gains buy-in and develops partnerships that deliver shared objectives.




- Leads and supports teams while applying strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive innovation, continuous improvement and effective outcomes.

Qualifications and experience

- A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in transport or urban planning (mandatory).
- Experience in transport or land use planning, with team leadership and people management experience highly regarded.
- A current Driver’s Licence (mandatory) and the ability to meet any required medical and safety compliance requirements.
