Lifeline Direct (LLD) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lifeline Australia. LLD focuses on supporting the development and ongoing implementation of suicide prevention and community wellbeing programs in the regions which we operate while looking for opportunities to grow Lifeline’s services in geographical areas where they do not currently exist.
LLD encompasses Lifeline Centres in Hunter region, Central Coast, Eastern Suburbs-Bondi, New England North West, Northern NSW, Geelong and South West Victoria, Northern and Western Melbourne. Our specialised and targeted services operate nationally via a telehealth model.

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Work/Occupational Health & Safety Advisor to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Executive Director, People & Risk, you'll work closely with leaders and frontline teams to strengthen our safety culture, support compliance and help create an environment where our people can thrive while delivering exceptional services, allowing you to make a genuine impact within a respected not-for-profit service provider.
About the Role
You’ll partner with the Lifeline Direct Executive, operational leaders, Health & Safety Representatives and the People & Risk Team to embed practical, proactive and sustainable safety practices across the organisation. You will also work closely with Facilities and Retail management to ensure Workplace Codes of Practice are adhered to in our offices & Op Shops. Collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders, you’ll play an key role in fostering and maturing our safety culture.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same! One day you may be leading an incident investigation, the next you’re conducting workplace inspections, planning emergency preparedness activities or identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders to strengthen safety capability and legislative compliance across LLD.
- Provide practical WHS advice, coaching and guidance on risk management, psychosocial hazards, fatigue, workplace incidents and investigations.
- Build strong relationships with regulators, union representatives, leaders and employees.
- Support workplace inspections, investigations and corrective action processes.
- Maintain and monitor incident reporting systems and WHS registers.
- Prepare reports, briefing papers, policies, procedures, training materials and other safety resources.
- Analyse safety data, workforce feedback and incident trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Support the Health and Safety Committee and broader consultation framework.
- Develop and deliver WHS training and awareness initiatives.
- Ensure LLD is compliant with current WHS legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice and industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety and wellbeing.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A bachelor's degree in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a WHS/OHS advisory or related role.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance requirements and contemporary safety practices.
- Demonstrated experience managing safety systems, incident investigations, injury management and psychosocial risk.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends and make practical recommendations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with regulators, executive leadership, unions, employees and health & safety representatives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and contemporary reporting systems.
- The ability to manage sensitive and complex matters with professionalism and sound judgement.
Highly Regarded
- Qualifications or specialist training in psychosocial risk management.
- Experience working within a service delivery, community services or mixed paid and volunteer workforce environment.
