The opportunity

To run the Group's financial processing that underpins accurate, timely numbers across the group. A global role covering Australia, USA, Canada and Europe where transaction volume, tax complexity and systems are constantly evolving.

You'll take on the monthly transactional, reconciliation and report work, freeing the CFO to focus on Europe growth and broader strategic priorities. This gives you real scope to make the role your own.

You'll report directly to me, Greg Hall, CFO of Desky and Alternative Brewing. We've spent the last year building out the systems, controls and processes behind our financials, and I'm looking for someone sharp and reliable to own the operational engine room while I focus on strategy, forecasting and investment decisions. You'll get direct exposure to a CFO who wants to invest in your development and hand over real responsibility.

Key responsibilities

- Own inventory and e-commerce accounting keeping Cin7 Core (inventory sub ledger) in sync with Xero, matching stock purchase payments, and maintaining oversight of Shopify (sales sub ledger) control accounts




- Investigate and correct root-cause discrepancies between sub ledgers and the general ledger
- Run month-end close: reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and Group reporting
- Monitor daily cash flow and credit card balances, flag anomalies and clear balances to savings accounts
- Spot-check stock invoices against supporting documentation, investigate quote-to-invoice variances, and prepare payment files for approval
- Maintain accurate books in Xero across seven group entities, including AP invoices, bank transactions, payroll and tax processing
- Manage inter-company invoicing and loan account balances between related entities
- Perform verbal verification on current vendor bank details as part of fraud prevention controls
- Maintain department budgets and report on variances with insightful analysis

About you

- 3-5 years' experience in an inventory-driven e-commerce business
- Confidence and track record of using AI tools to work smarter and faster, we currently use Claude.
- Advanced skills in Xero, Shopify and Cin7 Core (or similar inventory and sales systems), plus strong Excel/Google Sheets data tools (Xlookup and Pivot Tables)
- Practical experience processing tax across multiple jurisdictions (AU BAS/GST at minimum; exposure to US, Canadian or European tax would help)
- Comfort with complex DR/CR accounting entries and genuine curiosity for tracking down discrepancies
- Meticulous attention to detail, proactive approach to problem-solving, and strong fiscal consciousness
