Broken Hill

You will play a critical role in re-establishing the underground ventilation system for a major silver-lead-zinc mine restart in Broken Hill, NSW. With the mine having been unventilated since 2023, you will support the progressive reopening of underground workings, bringing ventilation circuits back online and ensuring the mine can safely ramp up production from November 2026.

Working as part of a newly established technical services team, you will be involved in ventilation system upgrades, fan replacements, commissioning and circuit optimisation. You will work closely with mining and geotechnical teams as access to underground areas is progressively restored, with the longer-term prospect to help manage ventilation challenges as mining advances deeper into the operation.

This is an initial six-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension. You will work an 8/6 back-to-back roster on day shift, with 11-hour days and FIFO/DIDO arrangements available. An October 2026 commencement is required to support the mine restart.

Key Responsibilities

- Re-establish and optimise underground ventilation circuits
- Support primary and secondary ventilation design and operation
- Plan and coordinate fan replacements, installations and upgrades
- Support commissioning and performance testing of ventilation equipment
- Model and assess ventilation requirements as workings are reopened
- Monitor ventilation performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Work with mining and geotechnical teams to manage progressive re-entry
- Develop ventilation strategies as mining advances into deeper areas
- Support the management of heat and other ventilation-related risks
