ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head Curator, you will assist the Head Curator in leading and managing the Grounds team responsible for maintaining cricket turf wickets, winter sporting facilities including rugby and football, and athletics and cross-country tracks. Applicants should have demonstrated experience in the management of large sporting facilities and in particular turf wickets to a minimum 1st grade standard. A strong knowledge of soil management, turf management and chemical management.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Head Curator with the Coordination of the day-to-day activities of the grounds department to prepare the sport fields and facilities to a high standard on a weekly basis.
- Prepare and maintain cricket wickets to a minimum 1st grade cricket standard throughout the season.
- Preparing sports fields/facilities in line with scheduled training & weekend fixtures.
- Ensure mark-up of Rugby and Soccer fields, cross country and Athletic tracks.
- Assisting with the safe management, storage, handling and application of fertilisers, pesticides and other chemicals.
- Developing and implementing turf management programs for all sports fields
- Effectively managing all aspects of turf maintenance & renovation, contractors, irrigation repairs, plant & equipment and programmed maintenance.

To be successful you will possess:
- Minimum Certificate 3 in Horticulture (Turf management).
- A strong work ethic and a minimum five years’ experience in preparing and maintaining high standard sporting fields and turf wickets.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in chemical management, including chemical registers, application records, SDS management and safe storage and handling.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising, leading and motivating staff.
- A good knowledge of and proactively promote and comply with WHS policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Robust organisational skills and attention to detail
