About the role:

The Visiting Medical Officer – Psychotherapy Supervisor – position provides supervision and training in psychotherapy to psychiatry trainees in line with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists requirements for psychotherapy training The successful candidate will initially be appointed until 30 June 2027, to align with the current quinquennial appointment cycle. The appointment will then be eligible for renewal for a further five year term, subject to the applicable review and approval processes.

Eligibility Terms

Employment with St Vincent's is subject to you having current immunity status that complies with the Occupational Assessment,



Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases – NSW Health Policy Directive (PD2023_022) or subsequent revisions in force. Appointment and ongoing employment will be subject to continued compliance with this policy directive.

Selection Criteria

- Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
- Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of PD – VMO – Psychotherapy Supervisor, August 2026 Page 4 of 4 Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent and evidence of subspecialty training in psychotherapy.
- Be accredited, or be eligible for accreditation, as a supervisor by the RANZCP NSW Branch Training Committee.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice in psychotherapy commensurate to experience which is appropriate to the requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated expertise and commitment to person-centred, recovery-oriented, family/carer-inclusive and trauma-informed principles of care.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision of psychiatry trainees, junior medical officers, medical students and non-medical colleagues.
- Demonstrated understanding of the RANZCP training program and curricula as it relates to psychotherapy training requirements,



and a commitment to maintaining the quality of the RANZCP training program.
