Key Responsibilities
- Daily Care and Routine Support
- Supervise children closely at all times.
- Assist with meals by serving food and feeding babies.
- Manage hygiene routines, including nappy changes and toileting.
- Help at rest time by preparing beds and comforting children.
- Maintain clean environments by sanitising toys and cleaning surfaces.
- Set up activities such as arts and crafts and sensory play.
- Engage in play to encourage children’s social development.
- Observe child behaviour to help document their learning progress.
- Prepare learning areas both indoors and outdoors.
Safety and Wellbeing
- Identify hazards in the indoor and outdoor play spaces.
- Apply first aid for minor bumps and scratches under supervision.
- Follow hygiene policies to prevent the spread of germs.
- Monitor emotional wellbeing to ensure children feel safe and secure.
Professionalism and Training
- Complete study modules and attend training sessions on time.
- Applythe theory you’ve learned directly toyour daily room practice.
- Communicate with families politely during drop-offs and pick-ups.
- Work with educators by listening to feedback and taking direction.
Skill & Experience
- Active supervision to keep moving children safe.
- Clear communication for interacting with kids and teams.
- Active listening to follow instructions from senior educators.
- Time management to balance work tasks with study.
- Basic storytelling and singing to engage young groups.
- Problem-solving to handle minor conflicts between children.
- High emotional patience during challenging behaviours or crying.
- Genuine empathy to comfort distressed or anxious children.
- Strong adaptability to handle sudden routine or schedule changes.
- High energy to keep up with physical daily demands.
- Cultural awareness to respect diverse family backgrounds.
Experience (Helpful but not Essential)
- Babysitting or caring for younger family relatives.
- Volunteering at community playgroups or kids’ sports clubs.
- Work experience in retail, hospitality, or customer service roles.
- Coaching or tutoring young primary-aged school children.
Mandatory Legal Requirements
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or blue card.
