This position leads the planning and delivery of projects that enhance the productivity and sustainability of grain and mixed farmers in the northern grain's region of Victoria. Working as part of the Grains team, the focus of the role is to deliver products and services that assist farmers to make better decisions, leading to increased productivity and responsible natural resource management. You will have a sound understanding of Victoria's grains industries and experience in grazing and cropping management, farm planning, soil management, carbon farming, emissions and sustainable land management. The ability to apply extension principles and practices and use adult learning and facilitation techniques; translate the latest research and innovations into on-farm practice change, and act as a key contact on relevant technical matters is an important part of the role. The position will work with colleagues in the Grains team to provide integrated services to clients and develop and manage relationships with farmers, regional partners and other key stakeholders including Catchment Management Authorities, researchers, investors, grower groups and industry networks. Demonstrated experience in project management, from planning, delivery and reporting to evaluation is required, as are excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to produce written extension materials and reports and make oral presentations to individuals and groups. A degree in agriculture, science, or an equivalent science qualification is required.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

- A relevant tertiary degree in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Business Management, Science or an equivalent science qualification.




- Experience in agronomy and supporting grains and mixed farmers to build resilient farm businesses.
- Experience in the use of on-line platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom and Microsoft Office Suite is required.

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2028. The work location for this position is Negotiable within Loddon Mallee Region.
