The Team Leader will be appointed by the chief executive as a Government assessor under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (Section 128). This position reports to the Executive Manager, Financial Assistance and will:
• Perform functions as required under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
• Lead a multidisciplinary client focused team in an evidence-based decision making and results driven environment.
• Drive motivation and innovation in team members.
• Manage processes and resources to ensure the timely assessment of applications for financial assistance in line with legislative intent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Manages a multi-disciplinary team in the achievement of results, operational outcomes and performance measures, using sound business judgment and initiating and directing remedial action as required.
- Provides authoritative analysis and advice on complex operational process and policy issues relating to administration of the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 and provides leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary team of administrative law decision makers who undertake complex evidence-based decision making in accordance with this Act.
- Undertakes complex evidence-based decision making relating to the provision of assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
- Leads the delivery of business and service improvements through the effective and efficient management of Victim Assist resources, policies, processes and systems.
- Identifies broader factors, trends and influences that may impact on output, work quality and timeliness of services.
- Leads and motivates an organisational culture that values and rewards collaboration, innovation performance and the positive contributions that staff bring to Victim Assist and its' clients.
- Builds and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including other departmental business units and the non-government sector, to create opportunities and improvements ensuring the effective and effective delivery of Victim Assist services.
- Assist the Executive Manager, Financial Assistance with financial, human resource and performance management activities including establishment management, workforce and succession planning, coaching, mentoring and staff supervision.
