This is a PE-backed group with a national footprint, a genuinely acquisitive growth strategy and a leadership team that has been through the full investment cycle more than once. Since the current ownership era began, the business has completed around multiple acquisitions with more in progress.
The Role
This Financial Analyst role sits within the M&A; and commercial team, reporting to the Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions at the group's Brisbane corporate office. It is a rare opportunity for an analytically strong finance professional to step away from the traditional technical accounting and compliance pathway and into a genuinely commercial, deal-adjacent seat.
The succession story here is straightforward and real. Your direct manager started in this exact seat before being promoted as her commercial experience grew.
Day to day, you will work across live acquisition activity, board and stakeholder reporting, property and lease management, procurement analysis and business integration support. You will engage directly with senior stakeholders, external counsel and operational leaders, acting as a genuine business partner. Communication and commercial curiosity matter here just as much as technical capability.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Supporting financial modelling and analysis for acquisitions, expansions and development opportunities
- Preparing Board reports, briefing packs, term sheets and offer presentations
- Maintaining and developing the acquisition pipeline, including research on target businesses and industry reviews
- Supporting due diligence processes on acquisition targets, identifying business risks and recommending mitigation strategies
- Assisting in the review of Sale and Purchase Agreements and ancillary transaction documents
- Supporting integration of newly acquired businesses into the group
- Negotiating and managing property leases across the portfolio from entry through to renewal
- Managing cost and project delivery across expansion and development activity
- Analysing procurement spend and identifying cost saving opportunities across the group
- Coordinating legal matters within the team, working alongside external counsel where required
About You
You are an analytically sharp finance professional, most likely coming out of Big 4 or mid-tier external audit or corporate finance who is ready to move beyond the traditional technical accounting path. You do not need M&A; experience. Your direct manager came in without it and was told the same thing she is now telling us: what you do not know, you will learn, and you will be supported. What cannot be taught is your ability to communicate, build relationships and pick up a complex business quickly.
You are comfortable in Excel, confident engaging senior stakeholders and genuinely curious about how businesses grow. You bring rigour without rigidity and you are ready to back yourself in a fast-moving commercial environment.
Skills & Experience
- Big 4 or mid-tier external audit background, or solid early commercial finance experience
- Strong Excel capability - pivot tables, consolidations and financial modelling are the core technical requirement
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills - non-negotiable
- CA or CPA qualified or working towards completion
- High aptitude for learning in an acquisitive, fast-moving environment
- Power BI a bonus, not a requirement
What's On Offer
- A genuine commercial pathway out of audit - rare, real and immediately available
- Live acquisition deal flow with three to four transactions in progress at any given time
- Direct succession precedent - your manager came up through this exact seat
- A tight, cooperative team with a culture people genuinely stay in
- Brisbane inner-city corporate office with subsidised parking and WFH flexibility as required
