About the Role
We are seeking a (Senior) Grid Connection Engineer to join our growing team in Australia. In this role, you will be at the forefront of renewable energy integration, working on cutting‑edge grid connection and modeling challenges for solar, wind, and energy storage projects. You'll collaborate with internal experts, engage with key customers and grid operators, and help shape the future of new energy technologies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct testing and validation of simulation models for new energy grid-connected equipment, ensuring compliance with regional standards.
- Lead and participate in regular project meetings, tracking and resolving site‑specific modeling issues while managing customer communications and technical inquiries.
- Engage directly with customers and grid authorities to discuss technical modeling topics and represent Sungrow at industry technical exchange meetings.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to develop innovative solutions for control system and modeling challenges.
- Collaborate with our model development and HIL (Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop) testing teams to validate new products and models against evolving grid code requirements.
- Monitor and analyze emerging grid code and product requirements in the relevant region,
proactively identifying implications for Sungrow solutions.
- Research and benchmark competitor products, including modeling approaches and simulation reports, to inform Sungrow's strategic positioning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to produce explicit, high‑quality technical documentation.
- Proficiency with power system simulation tools such as PSCAD, PSS/E, or equivalent.
- Hands‑on experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python).
Preferred
- Experience in control system design for wind, solar, or storage converters, with expertise in grid‑connected modeling and delivery, especially in grid‑forming technology, across domestic and international projects.
