Boab Metals Limited is progressing the development of the Sorby Hills Project, located 50 km northeast of Kununurra in the East Kimberley. Sorby Hills is Australia's largest undeveloped near-surface lead–silver deposit, supported by granted mining leases, EPA approval, and proximity to established infrastructure, including Wyndham Port only 150 km away. With permitting and infrastructure already in place, Sorby Hills is uniquely positioned for fast-track production. Alongside Sorby Hills, Boab is actively exploring its 100%-owned Manbarrum and Eight Mile Creek prospects, strengthening our growth pipeline across the region.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and Registered Chief Surveyor to join our team at the Boab Project. Reporting to the Site Senior Executive, you will be responsible for leading all surveying activities across the project, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of survey services to support construction and operational requirements. This is a FIFO position operating on a 2 weeks on, 1 week off roster, offering the opportunity to work on a significant project within a collaborative and safety-focused environment.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and maintain site-wide survey control networks and survey standards.
- Provide survey support for construction, civil, mining and infrastructure activities.
- Manage all set-out, pick-up, topographic and as-built surveying requirements.
- Ensure survey data integrity, accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Produce and review survey reports, plans, models and technical documentation.
- Oversee volume calculations, reconciliation surveys and stockpile measurements.
- Coordinate and manage survey contractors and external consultants.
- Monitor project conformance against approved designs and specifications.
- Support mine planning,
engineering and project delivery teams with accurate spatial information.
- Manage survey equipment, software and technological advancements including GPS/GNSS, Total Stations and UAV technologies.
About you
- Registration as a Licensed or Registered Surveyor in Australia.
- Degree qualification in Surveying, Spatial Science, Geomatics or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in mining, resources, civil construction or major infrastructure projects.
- Proven leadership experience managing survey teams in a project environment.
- Strong understanding of survey control, mine development and construction surveying practices.
- Advanced proficiency with modern survey equipment and software.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Experience in greenfield mine development projects (desirable).
- Exposure to open pit mining operations (desirable).
