The Role

We are seeking an experienced Atlassian System Administrator to support the administration, maintenance, and optimisation of enterprise-grade Jira Data Centre and Confluence Data Centre platforms within a secure government environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of Jira and Confluence, ensuring the platforms remain stable, secure, and aligned with business and operational requirements. You will work closely with senior platform engineers and administrators to deliver platform enhancements, support users, and assist with upgrades and ongoing platform improvement initiatives.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone with strong Atlassian administration experience who is looking to further develop their platform engineering and cloud infrastructure skills within a modern Kubernetes-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer Jira Data Centre and Confluence Data Centre environments, including workflows, permission schemes, screen schemes, issue types, field configurations, and system settings
- Maintain Confluence space governance, templates,



macros, permissions, and content management standards
- Provide Tier 2 support for platform incidents, user access requests, troubleshooting, and performance-related issues
- Support platform upgrades, patching activities, and ongoing lifecycle management of Atlassian products
- Assist with administration and monitoring of Jira and Confluence deployments hosted on Kubernetes platforms within Azure AKS and AWS EKS environments
- Monitor application health, resource utilisation, logs, and performance metrics to ensure platform availability and reliability
- Execute and monitor CI/CD deployment pipelines for application releases, configuration changes, and infrastructure updates
- Assist with management of platform storage, shared home directories, and database services including Amazon EFS and Amazon RDS
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base content
- Collaborate with engineering teams, project stakeholders, and end users to continuously improve platform capability and user experience

What You’ll Need

- 2-4 years of hands-on experience administering Jira Data Centre and Confluence Data Centre in enterprise environments




- Strong understanding of Jira administration including workflows, permission models, field configurations, issue types, and screen schemes
- Experience with advanced Jira capabilities including JQL, automation rules, and ScriptRunner
- Experience planning and supporting Atlassian platform upgrades and maintenance activities
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a customer-focused approach to support
- Exposure to Kubernetes concepts including Pods, Services, Persistent Volume Claims, ConfigMaps, and Ingress Controllers
- Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts and enterprise application hosting
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desirable Experience

- Experience working with AWS EKS or Azure AKS hosted applications
- Familiarity with Helm for Kubernetes application deployment and management
- Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or similar tooling
- Exposure to Artifactory, secrets management solutions, and modern DevOps practices
- Experience supporting enterprise applications backed by Amazon EFS and Amazon RDS
- Previous experience within secure government, Defence, or national security environments
- Atlassian certifications or related platform administration certifications highly regarded
