Job Description

Steamatic is Australia’s longest established and largest restoration Company with over 35 locations throughout Australia and growing each year. We have available work Nationwide in Metropolitan and Regional areas. We are now looking to recruit an experienced Software Developer to join our dedicated service team working in various locations throughout Australia.

POSITION PURPOSE

The position will contribute to the success of the Company by delivering software systems development to a diverse client portfolio. Working with a range of business stakeholders this position will undertake work for the development and delivery of System capabilities across the Steamatic Group.

KEY RESULT AREAS

- Software and Database Design & Development: Ensure that any software that is developed incorporates current development standards and design efficiencies. Liaise with IT Operations on any items that may directly affect the servers or network before the commencement of development. Ensure all development is conducted on the development server.
- Assist in the writing of specification documents. Ensure that all software that is developed is tested before release to ensure that we maintain a high-quality standard in all works undertaken. Work efficiently and to deadlines as specified in the project planning phase.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership to other junior developers within the team. Encourage learning within the team and guide the use of research tools and literature. Assist team members in the interpretation of specification documents.
- Training & Presentations: Provide a training version of the latest software release to allow the business divisions to train new staff in an offline environment. Present system enhancements and functionality to both internal and external clients as required. Coordinate group training on all major changes to the software.




- Research new technology and 3rd Party software to enhance the tool kit available to the development team. Research alternative ways to write code to improve efficiencies within the team. Ad Hoc: The incumbent may be required to occasionally travel interstate to either present software changes or to liaise with clients / stakeholders to incorporate their ideas into the software.
- The incumbent will be required to make operational decisions, at times without data to support those decisions. The incumbent must be able to make these decisions in a timely manner and be able to explain the methodology used to arrive at the decision to management. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of products and services offered by the company.

QUALIFICATIONS & PRE-REQUISITES

- At least 3 years of commercial experience in Software Development
- Proficient in VB.NET, ASP.NET, HTML and CSS
- Proficient in Transact SQL and familiar with SQL Server 2000-2008
- Ability to research and evaluate alternative component software
- Advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI etc.
- Ability to prepare and conduct effective outcome-oriented training content and delivery sessions
- Commercial experience with PHP and Laravel
- Proficient with PostgreSQL
- Robust Commercial experience with PHP and Laravel
- A desire to stay updated on modern software development methodologies, tools and architecture
- Proven ability to improve legacy software to conform with modern best practices and integration with 3rd party systems
- Proficient with Git, GitHub Actions and CI/CD
- Experience with AWS and docker
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices, coding standards, build processes & source control management
- Demonstrate motivation & expertise in mentoring, managing tech debt, solving complex problems & motivating / empowering team members
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment managing multiple urgent requests
- Strong technical, diagnostic, troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop & support solutions that deliver customer value
- Inclusive & collaborative interpersonal attributes
- Relevant tertiary qualification highly regarded, however not essential
- The successful candidate must have the right to work in Australia and be prepared to undergo drug and alcohol testing, a Working with Children Check and a full Police Check.
- Willing to sponsor the right candidate who meets all the criteria mentioned above.

JOB TYPE & LOCATION

Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position

Salary: $90,000 per annum + Super
