About us

Liquor Control Victoria was established on 1 July 2022 and comprises the Victorian Liquor Commission and staff from the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Liquor Control Victoria is responsible for issuing liquor licenses and overseeing industry compliance and enforcement to ensure that Victorians and visitors to the state enjoy safe and responsible liquor licensed environments





The Licensing Division conducts and oversees a variety of licensing activities, including assessing and determining applications for liquor licences, permits and other approvals under delegation. It also responds to enquiries from the public and industry through face-to-face, phone and email contact.

The division establishes relationships with licensees and key industry, government and community stakeholders to achieve positive regulatory outcomes.

What you will do

As Licensing Officer, you will assess lower-risk liquor licence applications.

You will help process applications, answer enquiries and manage key records.

You will:

- complete pre-assessment work for liquor licence applications.
- process, assess and escalate lower-risk applications when needed.
- prepare clear correspondence about routine enquiries, licences and approvals.
- assess enquiries, manage records and respond to requests for information.
- spot process improvements and help fix procedural issues under direction.

About you

No formal qualification is listed as mandatory for this role. You will need to interpret and apply legislation in your work.

You should also have:

- flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills and approaches.
- teamwork skills, with a willingness to share information and help others.
- respect for people from diverse backgrounds, needs, beliefs and abilities.
- problem-solving skills, with clear and logical communication when resolving issues.
