About the role
North Burnett Regional Council is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Biosecurity Spray Officer to join our Biosecurity team.
Working across the North Burnett Region, you'll undertake roadside vegetation management, invasive plant control, termite treatments of Council bridge infrastructure, and biosecurity activities that help reduce the impact of invasive pests and plants.

Position Details
- Work type: Full-time, Permanent
- Salary Classification: QLGIA (Stream B) Level B1-B4, ($66,386.06 – $68,779.65 + 12% Superannuation)
- Location: Location negotiable within the North Burnett Region
- Schedule: 9-day fortnight
About you
You enjoy working outdoors and have demonstrated experience in herbicide application and vegetation management, together with sound knowledge of invasive plant identification, control methods and the safe selection, handling, storage and application of agricultural chemicals.
You have a good understanding of Queensland biosecurity legislation, including General Biosecurity Obligations,
and are committed to ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with legislative requirements and best practice. Your strong organisational, communication and record-keeping skills enable you to effectively manage your workload while maintaining accurate records and delivering excellent customer service.
You are comfortable working independently in remote locations as well as collaboratively within a team. You have experience operating plant, equipment and spray vehicles safely in roadside environments and are confident using tablets, mobile devices and computer systems to record and manage operational information.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Current unrestricted ‘C’ class drivers licence.
- Possess a Work Safe in the Construction Industry Induction Certificate (White Card).
- Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) Commercial Operator’s Licence.
- Traffic Management Implementation Program licence (or the ability to obtain).
- Termite or timber pest licence/units of competency (or the ability to obtain)
- Willingness to participation in periodic health monitoring, and vaccination programs – including Q fever and Lyssavirus.
