Job Summary
Own the day-to-day finance engine room of a growing manufacturer — run a tight ledger, close the books on time, every time, and keep the business audit-ready.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to run the day-to-day financial operations of our Australian business. Reporting to the CFO, you'll take ownership of the ledger, close process, statutory reporting, and financial controls that keep the business running accurately and compliantly.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for someone who takes pride in accuracy, process, and a clean close — you'll be the backbone of the finance function, working closely with the CFO who leads budgeting, audit relationships, and commercial strategy.
What You'll Be Doing
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Overseeing the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and banking reconciliations
- Leading month-end and year-end close — reconciliations, journals, variance analysis
- Preparing management reports for the CFO (P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow, KPIs)
- Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, statutory obligations,
and internal reporting requirements
- Maintaining financial controls over revenue recognition, cost allocation, inventory valuation, and capital expenditure
Budgeting & Commercial Analysis (Supporting)
- Assisting with the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts across departments
- Providing variance analysis, cost reporting, and profitability insights
- Analysing manufacturing costs, margins, waste, labour efficiency, and overhead absorption
Governance, Compliance & Risk (Supporting)
- Assisting with preparation for external audits, tax compliance, and statutory lodgements
- Working alongside external auditors, accountants, and insurers
- Supporting contract reviews and financial due diligence as required
Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Supporting continuous improvement of financial systems, reporting tools, and automation
- Assisting in developing and maintaining financial dashboards and reporting frameworks
- Supporting ERP, payroll, and financial system upgrades and integrations
Team Leadership
- Leading, mentoring, and developing the AP/AR team
- Partnering closely with Production, Supply Chain, Sales, and HR on day-to-day finance matters
- Providing financial training and support to non-finance managers
About You
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Solid experience managing financial operations — ideally in manufacturing or another complex operational environment
- A track record with statutory reporting, close processes, and financial controls
- Comfortable managing or mentoring a small team
- Highly organised, accurate, and process-driven
- Comfortable under pressure, across competing deadlines, and in a hands-on, fast-paced workplace
Why Join Us
- Competitive salary tailored to your experience, plus bonuses
- An inclusive, collaborative team environment
- Monthly culture team gatherings and weekly coffees
- A clearly defined role with a supportive CFO and stable, growing business behind you
