We are seeking an innovative and passionate Head of Department - Mathematics and Science to lead a dynamic team of educators in delivering outstanding learning experiences that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and academic excellence. This leadership role is responsiblefor driving curriculum innovation, promoting evidence-based teaching practices, and fostering a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and high student achievement. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Roma State College which caters for Prep to Year 12. Our college, P-12, opened in 2006 and offers students a modern, learner driven experience which caters for all, from Phonics to physics, from STEM to Agriculture Studies and all subjects in between. Our college has a proud history, shining academically, socially and in a range of sporting pursuits.

Our College opened in 2006, offering a P-12 structure. This opportunity allows for our students to experience a seamless transition that helps support both academic and social outcomes. It provides students with an prospect to enrich their learning through access to an extensive range of facilities and expert staff. We also ensure that the design and delivery of quality learning experiences are relevant and appropriate to our students.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include,

- Provide strategic leadership by developing and promoting a shared vision for the department that delivers high-quality teaching, learning, and improved outcomes for all students.
- Foster a culture of excellence and inclusion by embedding equitable practices, maintaining high expectations for student achievement and staff performance, and supporting continuous professional growth.
- Lead innovation and continuous improvement through future-focused planning, curriculum development, evidence-informed practice, and data-driven decision-making.
- Build strong relationships and partnerships with students, families, colleagues, community organisations, and external agencies to enhance student learning and wellbeing.
- Ensure effective governance and resource management by applying relevant legislation and policies, and strategically managing the department's human, financial, curriculum, and physical resources to achieve school priorities.
