This is a hands-on, site-based role supporting plant operations at Calix's Bacchus Marsh site on a fixed-term basis during a busy operational period. You will work alongside experienced operators and engineers to support safe, reliable plant operations, including R&D; trials, production activities and commissioning work on active plants. This role suits someone who learns best by being close to the process, enjoys practical engineering work, and thrives in a culture where safety is a core value.
Key responsibilities
Operating a production plant as part of Calix's operations team
Supporting R&D; trials, production runs and commissioning activities on fixed plant
Applying engineering fundamentals on plant to help translate plans into safe, practical execution
Completing plant logs, checklists and basic reports that support monitoring and learning
Participating in risk assessments and pre-start discussions to identify hazards and apply controls
Assisting with plant upgrades and modifications in an operating workplace
Undertaking physical and manual handling and operational tasks in line with training and safe work procedures
Participating in shift work, typically between 07:00 and 23:00, with some night shifts as required
About you
Currently studying or have recently completed a chemical or mechanical engineering qualification
Keen to build practical capability in an industrial setting
Safety-focused, curious, and comfortable learning by doing
Current driver's licence required
Willing to obtain a forklift licence
