EOS News Job Summary

EOS is building our high energy laser weapon capability. The Directed Energy group develops and demonstrates laser systems in the tens to hundreds of kilowatts class for counter-uncrewed aircraft system (C-UAS) and short range air defence roles, spanning the laser source, beam director, tracking and fire control, power and thermal management, and platform integration. This role is the operational engine room of the programme. You will keep the schedule current, the purchase orders moving, the long-lead items visible, and the logistics for trials organised so that engineers can stay on tools. It combines scheduling, procurement expediting, materiel and equipment coordination, logistics and programme administration. This is a role you can grow into. We are equally open to an experienced project support officer and to someone from a supply chain, purchasing or logistics background who wants to move into project delivery. What matters is that you are organised, willing to chase people, and interested in how complex hardware gets built. The project management side can be taught, and we will invest in teaching it. Every role in this team spends time in the field. Our systems are proven at the test range and on trial sites, and you will be there when that happens.

Primary duties

The job plays a pivotal role in keeping the directed energy programmes moving by making sure the plan,

the parts and the paperwork are all where they need to be, when they need to be there. You will provide expertise in schedule maintenance, procurement coordination, materiel and equipment planning, logistics and programme administration across a fast-moving engineering development environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain the programme schedules in Microsoft Project, keeping progress, baselines and critical path current from engineering inputs.
- Prepare the weekly and monthly reporting pack, including milestone status, actions and risk updates.
- Raise, track and expedite requests to purchase and purchase orders in Epicor, working with Supply Chain from requisition through to goods receipt.
- Maintain the materiel and equipment plan, including the long-lead item register, committed delivery dates, shortages and their assessed schedule impact.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including freight forwarding, dangerous goods consignments, customs clearance and export documentation.
- Maintain asset, tooling and equipment registers, calibration due dates, and the movement of equipment between EOS sites and the test range.
- Coordinate trial and demonstration logistics, including site access, range bookings, transport and visitor approvals, and support those activities on site.
- Provide programme administration, including meeting minutes, document control and travel bookings.

Experience Essential:

- Background in supply chain, purchasing, logistics, planning, project support or a related field within an engineering, defence,

construction or manufacturing setting.
- Either demonstrated competence with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, or a genuine appetite to learn scheduling with support from the team.
- Exposure to an ERP or MRP system for purchasing and inventory, such as Epicor or SAP.
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and structured trackers, and confident use of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
- Ability to read bills of material, drawings and delivery schedules well enough to chase the right item with the right vendor.
- Clear written communication and the discipline to keep registers, minutes and actions accurate and current without being asked.
- The persistence to follow up a late delivery for the fourth time, and the judgement to know when to escape instead.
- Willingness to spend time in the field supporting trials, including occasional out-of-hours work.

Highly regarded:

- Dangerous goods training under the Australian Dangerous Goods Code.
- Exposure to export control administration under the Defence Trade Controls Act.
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Project Management, Logistics or Supply Chain.
- Prior experience supporting field trials or range operations.
