Building Assessor / Site Supervisor – Insurance Repairs

Get Off the Tools. Assess the Damage. Run the Repairs.

Are you an experienced tradesperson, builder, insurance assessor or supervisor looking for a role with more variety and ownership?

KBA Insurance Repairs is looking for a Building Assessor / Site Supervisor to join our team, covering Brisbane/Gold Coast and surrounding regions.

This is a genuine dual role where you’ll be involved across both sides of the insurance repair process — assessing damaged properties, preparing scopes and estimates, and supervising repair works through to completion.

If you understand building, know how to communicate with customers and trades, and enjoy taking ownership of a job rather than simply passing it on, this could be the role for you.

About KBA

KBA Insurance Repairs is one of Australia's leading insurance repair builders.

We work with major insurers to manage residential building claims from the initial assessment through to repair completion.

Our focus is simple — quality repairs, clear communication and getting the job done properly.

We have an established national team, strong systems and a large network of trades and suppliers supporting our operations across Australia.

A Role With Variety

Some days you may be assessing a newly allocated claim and preparing the scope of works.

Other days you’ll be on site resolving a repair issue, meeting a customer or trade, checking quality or helping bring a project through to completion.

You won’t be stuck doing the same thing every day — and you’ll have the opportunity to use your building knowledge across the entire repair lifecycle.

Travel within the region will be required, and occasional travel may also be required to support CAT events or increased claim volumes.

Why This Role Stands Out

- Variety – combine assessing and site supervision
- Own the outcome – be involved from initial assessment through to completed repair
- Get off the tools – use your building knowledge without doing the physical work
- Strong pipeline of work – established insurance clients and consistent workflow
- Support behind you – experienced coordination teams, systems and processes
- Career progression – develop your experience across both assessing and construction management

What You’ll Be Doing

Your role will include a combination of building assessment and repair supervision, depending on workload and business requirements.

Building Assessing

- Attend insured properties and assess building damage
- Identify the cause and extent of damage
- Differentiate between insurance-related damage, maintenance and pre‑existing issues
- Prepare clear and accurate assessment reports
- Develop detailed scopes of works, estimates and repair recommendations
- Provide technical and building advice to internal teams and clients
- Liaise professionally with homeowners, insurers and other stakeholders
- Assist with disputes, variations and technical queries where required

Site Supervision

- Manage allocated insurance repair projects from commencement through to completion
- Coordinate subcontractors, trades and suppliers
- Review scopes and ensure repair methodologies are appropriate

- Program works and keep repairs progressing within required timeframes
- Complete site inspections and monitor workmanship
- Identify and resolve issues before they impact the customer or project
- Maintain communication with customers, internal teams and insurers
- Manage variations and additional works where required
- Ensure repairs meet quality, safety, contractual and compliance requirementsDrive jobs through to practical completion and handover

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone with strong practical building knowledge who can confidently move between assessing damage and managing repairs.

Ideally, you will have:

- A trade, construction or building background
- Experience within insurance building, assessing and/or repair supervision
- Strong understanding of residential construction and repair methodologies
- Ability to prepare scopes of works and identify required repairs
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple projects
- Solid communication and customer service skills
- Good problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices
- Good computer skills and the ability to work across software‑based claim platforms
- A proactive, practical and can‑do approach

Experience across both assessing and supervision would be highly regarded; however, we are also interested in experienced tradespeople, builders, supervisors or assessors looking to broaden their skillset.

Ready for Your Next Move?

If you’re a qualified trade or building professional looking to get off the tools, take ownership of your own jobs and build a career within insurance repairs, we want to hear from you.
