Kitchen Manager / Chef – 20 Hours Guaranteed + Pathway to Full-Time

Flying Woks is looking for an experienced, reliable and hands-on Kitchen Manager / Chef to join our catering team in Ravenhall.

This is a permanent part-time role with a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to increase hours and potentially move into a full-time position as the business grows.

Unlike a traditional restaurant roster, our work is built around catering functions and events, so the successful person will need to be flexible with their availability. Hours will vary depending on bookings and may include weekdays, evenings and occasional weekends.

The role

You will work closely with the owner and our catering team to help manage the preparation and delivery of our events.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Food preparation and cooking
- Organising and preparing catering jobs
- Managing kitchen workflow and food preparation
- Packing and loading catering equipment and food
- Driving company vans to and from functions
- Assisting with on-site catering events when required
- Receiving and putting away stock
- Maintaining kitchen cleanliness and organisation
- Helping ensure jobs leave the kitchen complete, organised and on time
- Supporting casual kitchen and event staff

This is a hands-on position. We are looking for somebody who is happy to cook, organise, pack, load, drive and help wherever required.

What we’re looking for





You will ideally have:

- Commercial kitchen or catering experience
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently
- A reliable and flexible approach to work
- Confidence taking responsibility for jobs
- Good communication skills
- A current Australian driver’s licence
- The ability and willingness to drive our company vans
- Availability to work around changing catering schedules
- Ability to safely lift and move catering equipment as part of loading and unloading vans

Previous kitchen management, catering or event experience would be highly regarded.

Hours

We guarantee a minimum of 20 paid hours per week.

The hours will be flexible and organised around our catering bookings rather than being the same fixed shifts every week.

This may suit an experienced chef currently doing casual or agency work who would like the security of guaranteed weekly hours while retaining some flexibility.

As our catering bookings grow, we would like this role to develop into additional hours and potentially a full-time Kitchen Manager position.
