Maxima are on the hunt for a Senior Information Access Officer to work with their client, a well-known Local Council based in Logan Central. In this role you will provide senior specialist quality advice and end to end case management on all matters associated with information access legislation and assisting the Principal Information Access Advisor to deliver effective governance outcomes.
Offering $74 per hour this opportunity will see you working Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintain knowledge of changes in local government and industry relevant to Information access such as legislative changes and industry best practice
- Provide advice, guidance and education to other branches regarding governance and information services and practices
- Manage and support the end-to-end process required to respond to applications made under various legislation (including the Right to Information Act 2009, Information Privacy Act 2009 and Evidence Act 1977), Notices of Non-Party Disclosure, Subpoenas and Summons
- Prepare a variety of correspondence, including decision notices under the RTI and IP Acts in accordance with relevant legislation, and correspondence to internal stakeholders or external stakeholders and agencies
- Support the Principal Information Access Advisor to respond to and resolve escalated and complex external reviews of decisions under the RTI Act
- Interpret and apply the legislation to the cases being managed, including knowledge and application of case law relating to decisions made
- Maintain confidentiality on all issues relating to the organisation, customers and colleagues
To Be Successful:
- Progression towards qualifications (Diploma Level) or equivalent extensive practical experience in information access management in a large, highly regulated organisation (ideally local or State Government) is highly desirable
- Well developed knowledge and extensive practical experience in dealing with information access legislation
- Demonstrated ability to gather and analyse a large amount of factual information and formulate outcomes, actions, and plans relevant to each circumstance
- Proven ability to provide technical advice about Information Access and communicate complex issues in plain language for various audiences
- Demonstrated experience in assessing information access applications, including the ability to interpret and apply the applicable legislation
- Ability to research and analyse issues, write concise correspondence and provide independent advice on a range of release of information issues
- Proven ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality in a sensitive and complex workplace
