Senior Solution Engineer Location: Melbourne, VIC
(with travel to project sites as required) Employment Type:
Full-time, permanent 1. Position Purpose The Senior Solution
Engineer is responsible for the ongoing design, development and
operation of core data and custom-built application platforms, with
primary ownership of the Microsoft Fabric data platform, the
Morpheus labour cost intelligence application and other
system-to-system integrations. This is a hands-on, technically deep
role spanning data engineering, cloud infrastructure, system
integration and full-stack application development, and is central
to the organisation's ability to automate business processes and
turn operational and workforce data into decision-ready insight. 2.
Key Responsibilities 2.1 Data Platform (Microsoft Fabric) Design,
build and maintain data ingestion pipelines from source systems
such as Microsoft Entra, SharePoint Lists, Excel workbooks and
third-party SaaS platforms, e.g. Premier Construction Cloud,
SafetyCulture, Employment Hero, Neo Intelligence, Visibuild, etc.
Implement and maintain appropriate security and access controls
across Fabric SQL and Power BI to ensure fit-for-purpose data
governance. Troubleshoot and optimise data pipelines for
reliability, performance and cost. 2.2 Morpheus Product Ownership
Own the ongoing development of Morpheus, a labour cost intelligence
and scenario modelling platform built on a React/Vite frontend,
Python Azure Functions backend, and Azure SQL / Fabric SQL DB.
Maintain and extend appropriate security controls for the
application. Design and deliver new features in line with the
product roadmap co-created with business stakeholders. Manage Azure
infrastructure supporting Morpheus, monitoring cost, performance
and reliability. Maintain CI/CD practices (e.g. branching,
environment promotion) for the codebase. 2.3 Architecture and
Design Partner with the CIO to make key architecture and design
decisions in relation to Fabric, Morpheus and system integration in
general. Produce clear technical documentation, architecture and
design decisions to support governance and stakeholder
decision-making. 2.4 Stakeholder Engagement Act as the key
technical point of contact for data platform and Morpheus-related
matters across the business. Translate business and operational
requirements into technical solutions, balancing pragmatism with
long-term platform sustainability. Support and upskill other staff
engaging with the platforms, including light mentoring where
appropriate. 3. Key Relationships 3.1 Internal Business unit and
project leaders — gathering requirements and driving adoption of
Fabric and Morpheus to create value for the business. Finance,
payroll and admin teams — coordination of data input / ingestion
and reporting requirements. 3.2 External Microsoft and related
managed services provider — platform relationship covering Azure,
Fabric, and Entra. Software vendors (e.g. SafetyCulture, Employment
Hero, Premier Construction Cloud) — initial integration and ongoing
maintenance. Specialist vendors — engaged from time to time to
support delivery of specific technical initiatives. 4. Key
Selection Criteria 4.1 Essential Demonstrated experience with
Microsoft Fabric or equivalent modern data platform technologies,
including lakehouse/medallion architecture. Strong hands-on
experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure Functions,
Azure SQL, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep or Terraform).
Full-stack development experience, ideally including React and
Python. Application integration experience using API, OData,
streaming services, etc. Experience building and maintaining CI/CD
pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent). Proficiency in
AI-assisted / agentic software engineering (e.g. using Claude
Code). Proficiency in secure application development and user
access controls. Excellent stakeholder communication skills, with
the ability to work directly with senior leadership. 4.2 Desirable
Experience in the construction, contracting or industrial/data
centre sectors. Understanding of Australian compliance frameworks
relevant to IT and data (e.g. Privacy Act, ISO 27001). 5. What
Success Looks Like The Fabric data platform is reliable,
well-governed and continues to expand to bring recent operational data
sources online, to enable Morpheus and other reporting / analytics
systems such as Power BI, data science, etc. Morpheus continues to
evolve as a trusted source of labour cost intelligence,
construction project productivity and other performance metrics for
the business, with a healthy feature roadmap and stable operations.
The CIO has a capable technical partner who can own delivery
end-to-end and provide sound advice on data, application and
integration decisions.
