Safety Officer | Heavy Industry | $66-$72/hr + Super

3-6 month contract | 38hrs/week | Flexible hours | Brisbane

- $66.41-$72.73 per hour + super
- Choose your base: Acacia Ridge, Eagle Farm or Current Chum
- Flexible start/finish times between 6am-5pm

If you enjoy contract work, like being out on site and close to operations, and want an assignment where you can come in and add value from day one, this is a great opportunity.

We're looking for an experienced Safety Officer to join a small HSE team supporting a well-established heavy industrial business across three Brisbane sites.

You'll work directly with operational teams, contractors and managers, spending time on the floor completing inspections, having safety conversations, supporting investigations and helping ensure HSE systems work in practice, not just on paper.

What you'll be doing

- Work within a small HSE team to guide the business in the management of health, safety and environmental activities while complying with legislative requirements and company standards
- Champion the Group Safety Management System processes
- Undertake audits, inspections, and front-line engagements
- Contribute to risk assessments, work method statements, project plans and reviews
- Contribute to incident investigations and reviews
- Develop, implement, and monitor work instructions with operational teams
- Assist with development, delivery, and management of training

- Facilitate and coordinate relevant safety meetings on site
- Identifies continuous improvement opportunities in safety processes
- Assist with managing contractors on site from a Safety perspective

What we're looking for

You'll hold a Certificate IV in OHS/WHS and ideally have experience within heavy industry, construction, mobile plant, materials handling or another high-risk operational environment.

You'll understand current WHS legislation and industry requirements, but just as importantly, you'll know how to communicate safety effectively on the ground. We're looking for someone approachable and practical who can build credibility with frontline workers while confidently engaging with management.

A Diploma in WHS and/or Training & Assessment experience would be highly regarded but isn't essential.

You'll need a current driver's licence and your own vehicle to travel between sites, with a per-kilometre allowance paid for required travel.

Why this contract?

You'll have the stability of 38 hours per week for 3-6 months, without locking yourself into a permanent move. There's flexibility around when you work your hours, you can choose your primary site, and you'll join an established HSE team rather than carrying the function alone.

If you're finishing up another contract, between assignments, or simply enjoy the variety of contract work, we'd love to hear from you.
