Job Description

Our client, A1 Auto Service & Repair, is an established automotive service and repair business based in Truganina, Victoria, serving customers across Melbourne’s western suburbs. With over 20 years of industry experience, the company provides a wide range of automotive services, including logbook servicing, diagnostics, roadworthy inspections, hybrid vehicle servicing and repairs, hybrid battery replacement, and Electric Vehicle (EV) diagnostics. The company is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic to join their team and assist with vehicle inspections, routine servicing, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, carrying out repairs and replacements, performing scheduled maintenance, and ensuring vehicles are serviced and repaired to a high standard. The annual salary for this position is $75,000 to $85,000. Duties include:

- Inspect, diagnose, and assess mechanical and electrical faults in motor vehicles using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, fluid checks, filter replacement, and scheduled service requirements.
- Repair, overhaul, and replace defective mechanical components, including engines, transmissions, steering and suspension systems, braking systems, and driveline components.
- Conduct engine tuning and adjustments to ensure vehicles operate efficiently, reliably,



and in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnose and repair faults in vehicle electrical and electronic systems, including starting, charging, lighting, and ignition systems.
- Remove, dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble vehicle components using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
- Carry out inspections and road tests to identify vehicle faults and verify that repairs and maintenance have been completed successfully.
- Test and replace worn or damaged components such as brake pads, discs, bearings, belts, hoses, batteries, spark plugs, and other vehicle parts.
- Use specialised diagnostic tools and equipment to identify faults and determine the appropriate repair or maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, servicing, repairs, parts used, and other work performed in accordance with workshop requirements.
- Follow manufacturer specifications, technical service information, workplace procedures, and occupational health and safety requirements when carrying out mechanical work.
- Communicate with customers and workshop team members regarding vehicle faults, required repairs, maintenance recommendations, and the progress and completion of repair work.

Qualifications:

- Should possess at least a Certificate IV in a relevant field.
- Must have at least one (1) year of experience in a related setting.
