The Role
We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL DBA to support critical database platforms within a secure enterprise environment.

This role will be responsible for the administration, optimisation, security, and operational support of PostgreSQL databases across production environments. You will work closely with infrastructure, applications, and engineering teams to ensure database reliability, availability, performance, and compliance with operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and maintain PostgreSQL database environments.
- Manage database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimisation activities.
- Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Ensure database security, access controls, and compliance requirements are met.
- Support production database operations, upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, performance issues, and operational problems.
- Support capacity planning, database health monitoring, and performance reporting.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure,



and engineering teams to support business-critical systems.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across database platforms and services.

What You'll Need

- Robust hands-on PostgreSQL database administration experience.
- Experience supporting production database environments.
- Demonstrated experience in database performance monitoring and tuning.
- Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Experience implementing and managing database security controls.
- Experience supporting highly available and business-critical database platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within Defence, government, or secure environments is highly regarded.
- Experience supporting compliance, operational resilience, and secure infrastructure environments is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
