We are looking for a passionate Youth Mentor to join our team in Broome and make a positive impact in the lives of youth and lowering the rates of recidivism for our participants through mentoring and support.
About the role:
The Youth Mentor position will be required to work in partnership with HOPE Community Services and Youth Justice staff in the region and provide mentoring support and assistance to young people and their families. The program operates in Broome and referrals for participants are supplied by Youth Justice.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to build upon partnerships within the community and run programs, workshops, meetings, and mentor the participants in a one-on-one setting and will work individually with participants and their families for an extended period.The role offers extensive training opportunities and support to the successful applicant.
This is a full time fixed term position until 30 June 2027.
Skills and Experience:
To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following work-related experience and attributes:
- Completion of a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services or related field and/or relevant previous experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Demonstrated knowledge of government and other bodies that provide services to Aboriginal people
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to positively influence outcomes
- Able to tow a trailer and drive a bus
Essential Requirements:
- Department of Justice and Police Clearances (or ability to obtain)
- National Police Clearance Check
- Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
- C Class Driver's Licence
