About the role
The Baldivis Maternity Clinic is seeking an Endorsed Midwife - General Practice to join our healthcare team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality midwifery services within a general practice setting in Baldivis, WA 6171. As an Endorsed Midwife, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to pregnant women, new mothers and their families. This position offers the chance to work collaboratively with GPs, nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to support women throughout their pregnancy, labour and postnatal journey, contributing meaningfully to maternal and infant health outcomes within our community.
Key responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive midwifery care to pregnant women, including antenatal assessments, education and support
- Conduct routine antenatal and postnatal examinations and screening in accordance with clinical guidelines and best practice
- Develop and implement individualised care plans for women under your care
- Deliver evidence-based health promotion and education to pregnant women and new mothers regarding nutrition, lifestyle and infant care
- Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing, identifying and escalating any concerns appropriately
- Collaborate with GPs and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care
- Maintain accurate, detailed and timely clinical documentation and records
- Provide support and advice during the postnatal period, including breastfeeding guidance and infant health checks
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical governance activities
- Respond to clinical emergencies and provide appropriate first aid and support as required
What we're looking for
- Current registration as an Endorsed Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
- Demonstrated experience in midwifery practice within general practice, primary care or community settings
- In-depth knowledge of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care best practices
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills with the ability to recognise complications and escalate appropriately
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced general practice environment
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Working with Children Check (or eligibility to obtain) as required by Western Australian regulations
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple patients
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to NMBA professional standards
