The Opportunity
As a Graduate Urban Designer in the City of Perth, you will support the development and delivery of urban design and public realm projects, providing quality service and advice across projects of low to moderate complexity.
Reporting to the Lead City Designer within our Transport and Urban Design team, your responsibilities would primarily include:
- Supporting the development of urban design studies, plans, frameworks and projects, with increasing autonomy over time;
- Assisting with project briefs, concepts, graphic materials and final designs, as well as the coordination of consultants and contractors;
- Supporting community consultation and building positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
- Undertaking research, data collection and analysis to identify urban design issues and opportunities and support project recommendations.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant design discipline, such as Urban Design, Landscape Architecture or Architecture, or an approved equivalent professional qualification;
- A sound understanding of urban design principles and the ability to develop imaginative and deliverable concepts that respond to community needs, urban trends, spatial context and the history of place;
- Sound knowledge of relevant software and applications, including MS Project, Word, Excel, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite;
- Sound written, verbal and graphic communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear graphics, drafts and reports;
- Strong organisational skills,
including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under supervision; and
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team and build positive working relationships.
One to two years’ post-graduate experience is desirable.
