Qualified Saw Technician /Doctor

The Whiteheads Timber Sales group operates a mid-sized softwood saw mill supplying timber into wholesale markets with 4 trade and retail outlets across SA and Victoria. Whiteheads has developed a strong presence in the local timber industry, built around a reputation for providing dependable and effective customer service levels and consistent quality products, while maintaining a safe workplace.

We are offering an opportunity for an energetic and self-motivated person to join our business.

Responsibility of this role is to provide outstanding support and guidance to our Saw Shop team, operating and maintaining all saw shop equipment, as well as ensuring all saw and knife changes are completed efficiently to a high level.

This is a full time position for a qualified saw technician/Doctor based at our Mt Gambier Sawmill in South Australia, operating on a day shift with above award rates.

Duties and responsibilities:

· Ensure safe work practices.

· Sharpen and maintain knives and saws.





· Ensure saw lubrication units are functioning.

· Redress and maintain saw guide blocks and circular saw guides.

· Perform and or assist in preventative maintenance tasks, e.g., Alignments, saw changes, etc.

· Make, repair, maintain and sharpen a range of cutting tools and saw blades.

· Maintain mechanical parts on sawing machinery used in timber processing.

· General housekeeping tasks.
